Income Tax Assistance Program
IRS-trained and certified volunteers from Human Services, Transitional Assistance Department are available beginning January 17, 2012 to provide free tax preparation for filers whose households earned less than $49,000 in 2011. This service aims to increase taxpayers' access to the Earned Income Tax Credit which provides a financial boost to families and to the local economy. Several preparation sites are available throughout the County and all sites are authorized IRS e-file providers.

Free Pets for U.S. Vets!
As part of its ongoing successful effort to place the county's homeless pets with loving families, county Animal Care and Control is proudly participating in the Pets to Patriots program providing free adoptions to U.S. military veterans. Between now and the end of January 2012, any U.S. military veteran can adopt an animal from one of the county's three animal shelters completely free of charge.

6th Annual 5K Walk/Run & Fitness Expo at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center
Join ARMC for fitness and fun on Saturday, March 10, at the free 6th Annual Community 5K Walk/Run & Fitness Expo. Awards for different age categories will immediately follow the Walk/Run. Expo will offer free basic health screenings, live stage activities, and more! For everyone's safety, no pets, skates, skateboards or bicycles.

Trout Derbies at County Parks
San Bernardino County Regional Parks are hosting Trout Derbies at several park locations throughout the county. Derby dates are available through April and a special Kids-Only Derby, for ages 7-14, will also be held March 31st at Cucamonga-Guasti Regional Park. Cash and other prizes for top catches will be awarded at all derbies. Come join the fun!

Jr Fishing Workshops
Children ages 7-13 can learn the art and fun of fishing at Jr. Fishing Workshops, scheduled one Saturday a month from November 2011 to March 2012 at various County Regional Parks. All equipment and tackle provided.

I-215 Commuter Alert
Big changes are in store for motorists starting on January 3. As part of the Interstate 215 Widening Project, there will be two closures and one opening of a ramp to allow construction crews to continue work through the corridor.
