Reynolds (Alhambra), Leslie Walker (Redondo Beach), Stephanie
McCann and Jamie O’Toole (Santa Barbara), Julie Schneider-Ljubenkov

“Throughout history, every field of science has benefited
from the work of illustrators: individuals who are able to visualize
scientific concepts and realistically render natural science specimens,”
said Jeremy Stoller, president of the Southern California GNSI
chapter. “Science illustrators use a variety of traditional
and digital illustration techniques to create drawings with particular
attention to scientific accuracy and readability that also have
unique and stunning beauty.”
The Guild of Natural Science Illustrators is an international,
non-profit, professional organization for practicing illustrators
and those interested in the field of scientific illustration.
Works by natural science illustrators appears in scientific journals,
textbooks, field guides, magazines, and on the walls of museums
and science centers. Works featured in the San Bernardino County
Museum exhibit encompass a variety of media: watercolor, scratchboard,
acrylic, oil, pen and ink, woodcuts, graphite, and bronze, as
well as digital media.
The exhibit is free with museum admission.
