County Museum Open on Presidents Day Monday
The San Bernardino County Museum will be open on Presidents Day, February 21, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The museum is usually closed on Mondays, but by public request has opened its doors to on holiday Mondays so local families and visitors to the region can enjoy learning about the region.
Visitors to the museum will see displays of cultural and natural history relating to inland Southern California and the southwest. Special exhibits on view include “Passing Fancies: Victorian Needlework” in the Hall of History; “A Walk in the Woods: Discovering California’s Forests” in the Schuiling Gallery; and “Bright, Quick and Ready: Schools in San Bernardino County 1870s—1940s.” These special exhibits are free with museum admission. The museum’s permanent galleries include displays of North American mammals, anthropology and archaeology, fossils, rocks and minerals, local history, and the fifth largest collection of bird eggs in the world.
The San Bernardino County Museum is at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. The museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. General admission is $6 (adult), $5 (student or senior), and $4 (child aged 5 to 12). Children under five and Museum Association members are admitted free, and everyone will be admitted free on Sunday, February 6. Parking is free, and the facility is handicapped-accessible.
